A Sad Update to a "Happy Ending"

Babs, was a big black lab mix who sat at our shelter for months waiting for the right home. She found them in the Wilsons who sent us their adoption story for our "Happy Endings" page. (Read it here: http://www.eastbayspca.org/ adoptableanimals/ happyendings.cfm?id=8).

The Wilsons kept us updated by dropping by our City Center storefront in downtown Oakland and sending holiday cards featuring Babs and her brother Ranger in an assortment of holiday gear.

I received news today that after being ill for sometime, Babs was humanely euthanized at home. I'm grateful to the Wilson family for sharing small pieces of her life with the shelter staff (even this very sad one), and most of all for giving an overlooked sweet big, old, awkwardly shaped dog the best years of her life.

Oh no; I am so sorry to read that!

best wishes to J and K.

BABS: With your family and those of us at the EBSPCA-Oakland who rejoiced at your adoption and so fondly remember your time with us, you live on in our memories. Rest in peace, wonderful dog. Virginia

I am so glad to hear that at least she had a very good home and some very loving adopters. The photos of the kittens are adorable, by the way.
